Lucky's Market: North Boulder's Local Grocery

A North Boulder Grocery Staple Since 2003

Lucky's Market has been a cornerstone of the North Boulder neighborhood since it opened in 2003. Boulder chefs Bo and Trish Sharon took over what was then known as the North Boulder Market and transformed it into a community-focused grocery store with an emphasis on organic, natural, and locally sourced foods.

The store survived a turbulent period — after expanding nationally to 39 locations with backing from the Kroger company, the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early 2020 when that partnership ended. Bo and Trish Sharon bought back the remaining stores and chose to scale down, keeping only their original two Colorado locations: North Boulder and Fort Collins. Today, the 3960 Broadway store is independently owned and operating.

What You'll Find Inside

Lucky's Market covers all the departments you expect from a full-service grocery store, with a strong lean toward natural and organic products:

  • Produce — fresh fruits and vegetables, with an emphasis on organic options
  • Meat and Seafood — full-service counter with house-roasted meats
  • Deli — freshly prepared foods and grab-and-go options
  • Bakery — baked goods made in-house
  • Bulk — an extensive bulk section with grains, nuts, spices, and more
  • Grocery aisles — stocked with local Colorado brands alongside national natural food brands
  • Dairy and Frozen — full selection including plant-based alternatives
  • Apothecary — supplements, wellness products, and personal care items

Bakehouse & Creamery and Café

One of Lucky's Market most notable features is the on-site Bakehouse & Creamery along with a full-service café. Whether you want a coffee before you shop or a freshly baked pastry to take home, the café makes Lucky's a destination beyond just groceries. It's a handy stop for a quick breakfast or lunch in the NoBo neighborhood.

Bulk Foods and Local Products

The bulk section is a big draw for regular shoppers. Buying in bulk cuts down on packaging waste and lets you purchase exactly the amount you need. The store stocks bulk goods that are sourced locally, organically, and sustainably where possible — a good fit for the values of the 80304 community.

The grocery aisles also feature Colorado-made products and local producers alongside the broader natural food selection, so it's easy to shop local without hunting around.

Practical Information

Lucky's Market is one of those neighborhood stores that earns loyalty not through gimmicks but through consistency. For North Boulder residents who want a full-service independent grocery with a real commitment to natural and organic foods, it's been the go-to option on Broadway for over 20 years.
