Primos Park on Violet Ave | Boulder 80304

A New Neighborhood Park Along Violet Avenue

North Boulder has a brand-new park on Violet Avenue, officially named Primos Park. The name was chosen by kids from the Boulder Meadows neighborhood — "primos" means cousins in Spanish, and reflects their hope to use the park with friends and family. The park sits on a 9-acre site along Violet Avenue between Broadway and 19th Street, in the heart of the 80304 zip code.

Address: Violet Avenue between Broadway and 19th Street, Boulder, CO 80304

This park fills a real gap in the North Boulder parks network. The surrounding Boulder Meadows area is home to the city's largest manufactured home community, and for years residents had limited access to a close-by neighborhood park. Primos Park was designed from the ground up with community input, with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusion for all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

What You'll Find at Primos Park

The park was designed around the natural setting of Fourmile Canyon Creek, which runs along the edge of the site. Key features include:

  • Adventure playground — an interactive play area with climbing features suited to different ages and abilities
  • Pavilion and plaza — a covered gathering space for community events, shade, and seating
  • Creek access and nature paths — trails along Fourmile Canyon Creek let kids explore the water's edge and connect with nature
  • Community garden — a dedicated planting area with native and sustainable plant demonstrations
  • Small bike pump track — a looping dirt track for beginners and young riders
  • Passive recreation areas — open lawn space and quiet spots for picnics and relaxation

The design was led by landscape architecture firm Sasaki, with a focus on green infrastructure that doubles as recreation. Much of the site sits within a floodplain, so the park layout also helps manage stormwater from Fourmile Canyon Creek.

Who Is the Park For?

Primos Park is a great fit for families with young children, thanks to the playground and creek exploration areas. The paved paths and accessible design make it welcoming for people with mobility needs. The community garden and gathering spaces draw neighbors of all ages. Dog owners can enjoy the nature paths, though this is not a designated off-leash area — keep your dog leashed on site.

Nearby Connections

The park is located right next to the North Boulder Branch Library, currently under construction nearby on Violet Avenue. Once open, the library and park will work as a combined community hub for the neighborhood.

Fourmile Canyon Creek flows through the park and connects to the broader Four Mile Creek Trail, an easy multi-use path that extends through North Boulder. This trail links Primos Park to other open space areas and provides a low-traffic route for walking, running, and biking.

Broadway runs just to the east, offering a direct connection to the rest of North Boulder and bus routes serving the area.

Getting There

The park is accessible by foot, bike, or bus from most of the 80304 zip code. Broadway is a main RTD bus corridor. Street parking is available along Violet Avenue and nearby side streets. The site is flat and easy to navigate from any direction.

Primos Park is a welcome addition to North Boulder's park system — a thoughtful, community-shaped space designed to last for generations.
